Me in my tux!!

Read my story below.

I was born in Bakersfield, California, the western home of country music. My parents, Lila and Bud, had a western swing band in the late forties that I was exposed to on a daily basis. I made my first TV appearance at the age of eight, playing accordion on my cousin Herb Henson's show in Bakersfield.

I was scared to death!!

I played various instruments in Jr. & Sr. High school... marching, jazz and concert bands. My band director Buck Shaffer was probably the most influential person in my life. As kids, he treated us as adults on our band trips. We were literally growing up pros "on the road" without even knowing it.
I will always have a very special place in my heart for Buck.

From 1973 to 1976, I was a member of the show group "Main Street". I consider this time to be one of the greatest experiences in my life. Voted by our peers as to be one of the best lounge acts in the business, this was a show business learning experience that was next to none.
This band showed me the true meaning of professionalism - on & off stage. Though we have all gone our seperate ways lo these many years, that span of years is disinegrated by the continuing friendship forged in that relatively short time together some 30 years ago.
Thank you Donnie, Gary the Turk, Jackie, and Jimmie.
What a hoot!!!

I have written over a thousand pieces of music, with ten completed CD's. I hope that my music is accepted not only by the people who listen, but by my peers. On these recordings, I play everything, write everything (except where noted), produce , sing lead, harmonies... everything!. I love it so much!!!

My fondest goal is to be the oldest Horizon Award winner at the CMA awards. I am a member of BMI, the American Federation of Musicians, the Song Writers Guild, and have works registered at the Library of Congress.

To have people like what I write is VERY mportant to me.

In the past few years, cancer has made itself a real "pest" in my life, but with the help of the Cancer Treatment Center in Porterville, CA, and the brilliant doctors there, things are looking up and for this I thank the Good Lord daily.....

NEVER GIVE UP!!!

I would not have any of this that you are reading or listening to without the undying faith that anything is possible if you work hard enough and are surrounded by people who believe in you.
To my Sweet Pea, Sandy .. To our parents, our dear friends, to the Pleasant Valley Chapel and to those others that are too numerous to list....
From the depths of my heart ...
THANK YOU -- with all the love I can muster!
